Will the Treatments Hurt?
Palomar Starlux Pulsed Light Systems use skin cooling and a unique long pulsewidth that delivers energy to the skin over a relatively long period of time. The cooling of the skin combined with longer pulses makes the procedure safer and more comfortable. You may experience a feeling similar to that of a rubber band being lightly snapped on the skin, but most people do not report this sensation as painful.
Are There Any Adverse Reactions to Treatment?
You may experience temporary redness and a mild "sunburn"- like effect that may last a few hours to a few days.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
The number of treatments varies depending on the individual, the body part being treated, and how much of the hair is in the active phase of growth. We will be able to give you a better assessment after consultation.
How Does Hair Grow?
Hair growth is cyclic ande as your hair can be at any stage of the stages (listed below), multiple pulsed light treatments may be necessary for permanent removal of hair.
Anagen
|
Anagen is the active phase of hair growth and generally lasts for several months. This is the best phase for the Pulsed Light Systems to disable new hair as it grows. |

Catagen Phase |
During this brief phase, the hair bulb regresses and begins to shrink. |

Telogen Phase |
At the end of this resting phase, which typically lasts a few months, hair is released from the shriveled follicles and the anagen phase begins again. |

What is the difference between Pamanent Hair Reduction and Permanent Hair Removal?
Absolutly nothing, we prefer the term Permanent Hair Reduction as it better describes the process e.g. Clinical trials show that Pulsed Light treatments will permanently reduce hair by anything up to 70 - 80 percent, the only way we can achieve a full and permanent hair removal is to go through a series of hair reductions.
