Elegant Image only practiced aseptic techniques, that includes appropriate sterilisation of instruments and jewellery, disinfection of surfaces, and we employ procedures that avoid cross-contamination. Every reusable instrument used that comes into contact with your body or with the jewellery will come from sealed sterilisation envelopes complete with sterilisation indicators. The needle and jewellery will remain in their individual sterilisation envelopes until they are used.
All jewellery used will be sterilised in individual autoclave packages that are opened in front of you. All jewellery that has been stored in a display case or handled with bare hands for any reason what-so-ever are re-sterilised, the same policy is applied to jewellery you may bring in whether it has been previously been worn or not.

Elegant Image piercers wear new, disposable gloves and face masks throughout the procedure and will change gloves when appropriate to avoid cross contamination. Cross contamination occurs when a clean or sterile item comes into contact with a contaminated item. Cross contamination also occurs when a clean or sterile item is handled with contaminated gloves or gloves that have been worn to handle contaminated items. To prevent cross contamination of sterile instruments during the piercing procedure, the piercer will change gloves if s/he touches anything that is non-sterile or unsuitably contaminated (ie. handled with bare hands or used instruments that have not been sterilised). After the piercer completes the piercing procedure, s/he will change gloves before handling items that will not be disposed of or autoclaved.
